Machines and essentials for a serious home espresso setup.

DF83V (variable-speed) vs DF83 Gen 2 (single-speed) vs DF64 Gen 2.
Larger burrs run at lower RPM for the same throughput — less heat, more efficient cutting. The DF83V's 83mm flat burrs grind a full dose in 3–5 seconds with exceptional consistency. This is a prosumer-grade machine that delivers café-level output for serious home use.
Variable speed (300–1600 RPM) lets you control grinding heat and speed. Lower RPM (300–500) generates minimal heat — ideal for light roasts or high-volume espresso work where temperature affects flavour. Higher RPM grinds faster for coarser filter settings. Most users dial in a preferred speed for espresso and leave it.
The DF83V's 680W DC brushless motor is more efficient, runs cooler, and lasts significantly longer than brushed motors. High torque at low RPM, quiet start to prevent bean popcorn, and noticeably quieter operation — built for the long term.
The plasma generator neutralises static charge inside the grinder, preventing fine grounds from clinging to bin walls and clumping. Grounds flow cleanly into the dosing cup — more accurate doses, cleaner workflow.
For espresso: start at the fine end of the stepless dial and 300–400 RPM. Target 25–30 seconds for a 1:2 ratio and adjust from there. For pour-over, step up several positions coarser and increase RPM. Note your settings — the 83mm burrs have a wide range and dialling in once means you can repeat it.
The DF83V comes with a warranty covering manufacturing defects. View full DF Grinders warranty terms and the claim process here.
