Description

The DF83V is the top of the DF single-dose ladder — 83mm flat DLC-coated (Diamond-Like Carbon) burrs driven by a 680W brushless DC motor with continuously variable speed from 300 to 1600 RPM.

Variable speed, 300–1600 RPM: Slow-grind light roasts for maximum clarity; speed through dark roasts. No other DF grinder offers this control.

83mm DLC burrs (Espresso or Brew): Choose your profile at checkout. DLC coating is the highest-end coating available on the DF line — harder than TiCN, even lower heat transfer, and even longer burr life. SSP 83mm burrs available as an alternative upgrade path.

4-post spring alignment: Inherits the DF83 Gen 2's burr-carrier stability — reliable alignment through cleaning cycles.

Plasma ionizer + prebreaker auger + anti-popcorn disc: The cleanest single-dose workflow DF has shipped. Sub-0.1g retention, even without the bellows.

Brushless DC motor: Quieter, more efficient, longer-lived than the AC motors in the standard DF line. This is the SSP-calibre, near-EG-1 performance band at DF pricing.

DF83V vs DF83 Gen 2: DF83V is a distinct variable-speed model, not a successor to the DF83 Gen 2.

Frequently asked

Why choose an 83mm flat burr grinder over a smaller burr?

Larger burrs run at lower RPM for the same throughput — less heat, more efficient cutting. The DF83V's 83mm flat burrs grind a full dose in 3–5 seconds with exceptional consistency. This is a prosumer-grade machine that delivers café-level output for serious home use.

What does 'variable speed' mean on the DF83V, and how do I use it?

Variable speed (300–1600 RPM) lets you control grinding heat and speed. Lower RPM (300–500) generates minimal heat — ideal for light roasts or high-volume espresso work where temperature affects flavour. Higher RPM grinds faster for coarser filter settings. Most users dial in a preferred speed for espresso and leave it.

What does the DC brushless motor do, and why does it matter?

The DF83V's 680W DC brushless motor is more efficient, runs cooler, and lasts significantly longer than brushed motors. High torque at low RPM, quiet start to prevent bean popcorn, and noticeably quieter operation — built for the long term.

What is the plasma generator, and what does it do?

The plasma generator neutralises static charge inside the grinder, preventing fine grounds from clinging to bin walls and clumping. Grounds flow cleanly into the dosing cup — more accurate doses, cleaner workflow.

What grind settings and speed should I start with?

For espresso: start at the fine end of the stepless dial and 300–400 RPM. Target 25–30 seconds for a 1:2 ratio and adjust from there. For pour-over, step up several positions coarser and increase RPM. Note your settings — the 83mm burrs have a wide range and dialling in once means you can repeat it.

What warranty does the DF83V come with?

The DF83V comes with a warranty covering manufacturing defects. View full DF Grinders warranty terms and the claim process here.
