Machines and essentials for a serious home espresso setup.

Compare the H13 against the H10 Plus and H10A.
Espresso is brewed by forcing hot water under high pressure through finely-ground coffee. The result is a concentrated shot with crema — denser and more intense than filter coffee. The H13's dual thermoblock delivers precise, stable temperatures for both brewing and steaming simultaneously.
A single-thermoblock machine can't brew and steam at the same time — you wait for it to switch modes. The H13's dual thermoblock runs separate heating elements for the group head and steam wand, so you can pull a shot and froth milk at the same time. Faster workflow, more stable brew temperature.
Very fine — finer than table salt. Target a shot time of 25–30 seconds for a 1:2 ratio (e.g., 18g coffee → 36g yield). Go finer if the shot tastes sour and runs fast; go coarser if it tastes bitter and runs slow. A burr grinder is essential.
The H13's interactive touchscreen lets you select brew mode, adjust temperature, and program shot volumes. Once you've dialled in a shot, save the settings and the machine replicates it. It also guides you through maintenance reminders like descaling.
After each session: purge and wipe the steam wand, rinse the portafilter, run a blank shot. Descale when the machine prompts you — follow the on-screen instructions with a commercial descaler. Use filtered water to extend intervals.
