The Fix Coffee Spring Tamper comes in two sizes: 51mm for compact HiBREW machines that use 51mm baskets, and 58mm for standard 58mm portafilters including the HiBREW H10A and H10 Plus. If your machine takes a 58mm portafilter, order 58mm — the slight oversize gives full coverage of the basket rim. Check your portafilter size before ordering.
Two springs work together: a calibrated pressure spring delivers consistent tamping force, while a leveling spring keeps the tamper base flat against the coffee bed even if your hand angle is slightly off. You press down, the spring releases at the calibrated point, and the tamper auto-resets — same force, same level, every shot.
The leveling spring corrects for slight tilt in your wrist during tamping. Even if you push at a 5–10° angle, the base self-levels against the puck surface, ensuring even pressure across the entire coffee bed. This is why spring tampers consistently outperform naked tamping for channeling prevention.
Constant pressure means applying the same force every tamp — the Spring Tamper's calibrated mechanism handles this automatically. Inconsistent tamping pressure creates uneven puck density, causing channeling — water finds gaps and over-extracts those areas while under-extracting others. The result is sour or bitter espresso.
Wipe the stainless steel base clean after each use. For a deeper clean, wash the base with warm soapy water and dry immediately. Don't submerge the spring mechanism in water. The aluminum alloy body can be wiped with a damp cloth. A quick wipe after every session is all it needs.
The Fix Coffee Spring Tamper comes with a 1-year warranty covering manufacturing defects. Contact support@fixcoffee.in for warranty claims.
