Description

DiFluid R2 Extract is for brewers who want numbers behind the cup. It measures coffee TDS, so you can compare recipes, diagnose extraction, and repeat a brew that actually tastes right.

Use it after brewing: take a small sample, measure concentration, then connect the reading with dose, yield and brew notes in CoffeeOS. It is useful for filter coffee, espresso recipe work, roaster QC, cafe calibration and serious home brewing.

If you only need to weigh coffee, start with the Microbalance. If you already weigh your brews and want to understand extraction, R2 is the next tool.

R2 Extract workflow

Measure concentration. Calculate extraction. Repeat the cup.

R2 Extract is for the moment after brewing: take a sample, measure TDS, then use CoffeeOS to connect that result to your recipe and extraction target.

1

Brew with a target

Weigh dose and yield, then keep the brew recipe fixed enough to compare results.

2

Measure TDS

Check dissolved solids with R2. For espresso, filter the sample first for the cleanest reading.

3

Log in CoffeeOS

Sync the reading into CoffeeOS and see the result on the Brew Control Chart.

4

Adjust one variable

Change grind, ratio or time based on extraction data instead of guessing from taste alone.

Frequently asked

What does DiFluid R2 Extract measure?

It measures coffee TDS, or total dissolved solids. This tells you brew concentration and helps you calculate extraction when paired with brew mass and recipe data.

Can I use R2 Extract for espresso?

Yes. The 0-30% TDS range covers espresso. For cleaner espresso readings, filter the sample first so oils and suspended particles do not distort the result.

What water should I use to calibrate it?

Use distilled water when you want absolute comparability across devices and users. Use your brew water when you want daily extraction checks that reflect your actual recipe water.

Does it work with CoffeeOS?

Yes. R2 connects to CoffeeOS over Bluetooth so TDS readings can be logged with brew ratio and Brew Control Chart data.
