The HiBREW Bottomless Portafilter is the premium upgrade over the pressurized portafilter that ships with HiBREW machines. A bottomless (naked) portafilter exposes the underside of the puck during extraction — you see exactly how your shot is pouring, which makes channeling and uneven distribution obvious. It's the single fastest feedback loop for improving your espresso technique.

58mm and 51mm Variants: Pick the size that matches your machine. HiBREW H10A, H10 Plus, and H13 all use the 58mm commercial standard. HiBREW's smaller machines (H7A and similar) use 51mm.

Three-Ear Commercial Mount: Standard three-ear bayonet fit used on all HiBREW machines and most commercial-style espresso machines.

304 Stainless Steel Basket: Non-pressurized, 14–18g dose. Works with any 58mm (or 51mm) tamper, WDT tool, and puck screen.

Rosewood Handle: Solid-wood handle with natural grain. Feels warm in the hand and looks better than the stock plastic handle.

Length: ~220–230mm total.

Frequently asked

What is a bottomless portafilter, and why would I use one?

A bottomless (or naked) portafilter has no spouts — espresso flows directly from the filter basket, visible from below. This makes channeling and uneven extraction immediately visible: spurts, splits, or drips down the sides all signal problems with your distribution or tamping. Fix the cause and your extraction improves. Once your technique is dialled in, some baristas keep it as a permanent setup for unrestricted flow.

Is this portafilter compatible with my machine?

Check your machine's portafilter ear count and basket size before ordering. The Fix Coffee and HiBREW Bottomless Portafilters (3-ear, 58mm) are compatible with the HiBREW H10A and H10 Plus. The 3-ear 51mm version fits 51mm HiBREW machines. For other machines, verify the ear pattern and basket diameter — all accessory sales are final and non-refundable, so check compatibility first.

How does a bottomless portafilter improve my espresso?

By making channeling visible. Channeling — water finding gaps in the puck and rushing through — is the biggest cause of inconsistent espresso. With a naked portafilter you see it happening in real time. Improve your distribution or tamping, and the flow becomes clean and even. The feedback loop makes you a better barista faster than any other accessory.

Do I need a different basket with a bottomless portafilter?

Your existing basket will work. However, a naked portafilter exposes every flaw in your puck preparation. For best results, pair it with a precision basket (uniformly perforated for even flow) and use a WDT tool or distributor for level grounds before tamping. Good technique matters more than the basket choice.

How do I clean a bottomless portafilter?

Knock out the puck immediately after the shot, then rinse under hot water. Brush the basket clean after each session. Soak weekly in a portafilter cleaning solution (Cafiza or equivalent) to dissolve coffee oils. The open design actually makes cleaning easier — no spout channels to trap grounds.
